If you have very fine hair, I recommend teasing (backcombing) the hair of the ponytail a little before wrapping it around the hair donut. Another cool thing you could do is to make a poof (quiff) in the front first before creating the ponytail for the donut bun

Here’s what I got for Christmas from my parents, brother and fiancé! Gmarket shopping is always a special treat for me, because the shipping is usually a bit too expensive for me personally to shop there regularly. So I wait for the holidays or special occasions But the stuff on Gmarket is always soooo good So I was super excited to receive this package!

And a makeup haul wouldn’t be a true Suzy style makeup haul if I didn’t have my trusty assistant Haaky with me while I show the products! Poor Haaky, he had to be my makeup guinea pig in this one…

I wasn’t too familiar with Peripera cosmetics…I mean, I knew about their hugely popular nail polishes, but other than that I hadn’t really seen many swatches or reviews. But they had a lovely deal going on at the time of my order, 3 Wonder Kiss glosses for the price of 1! And that 1 was discounted as well, so it ended up costing only ￦8,900 (± $8)!!!

I chose the colours 23 Angel Pink, 25 Glow Orange and 31 Peach Sugar They all look quite pinky coralish on me and they last a long time as well (I adore the subtle shimmers in them too). High quality glosses for a wonderfully budgetproof price!

Hehe the highlighter I attacked Haaky with I love love LOVE this stuff and its hygienic pump packaging (yeah yeah, I’m a neat freak). It gives the skin such a beautiful glow without being overly shimmery. But, even though the Etude House Nymph Volumer makes a good MAC Strobe Cream dupe, I wouldn’t use this mixed with my BB cream all over my face. It’s better to highlight only key areas of the face instead of looking like a glowstick

As you can probably tell, I’ve used these two Holika Holika Jewel-Light Waterproof Eyeliners a lot since receiving them Especially the light pink one because it really brightens my eye area when I used it on my waterline and lower lashline

The last photo I took is of the Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipstick in the colour BG401, a simple nude pink lipstick. A my lips but better colour The finish reminds me of the MAC Lustre lipsticks, but the Holika Holika one doesn’t last quite as long on lips unfortunately. Then again, I’m a compulsive lip licker remember? This one has made it to my purse though, that’s how much I like it! Too bad it’s such a teeny tiny lipstick, I bet I’ll finish it in no time

안녕하세요 my lovely dumplings! Wow, it’s been a while, huh? Hope you’re all doing well and that you’re looking forward to Christmas and New Year’s Oh how time flies!

I just wanted to give you all a little update to let you know I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth You know how it is, “real life” can become hectic sometimes and then you have to set priorities and make choices. There simply aren’t enough hours in the day at the moment to focus on both beauty blogging as well as YouTubin’ it up, so I chose to focus solely on my YouTube channel for now.

I’m actually getting closer and closer to a whoppin’ 4000 subscribers!! Can you believe it?! It’s exciting and terrifying at the same time And I plan to celebrate 4k in a big way by organising an awesome giveaway, so I’ve been working on finding sponsors and putting prize packages together.

So for now, I would suggest subscribing to my YouTube channel if you want to follow me on the WWW…as I don’t post all of my new videos on my blog I do hope to get back to blogging in 2012 though, because I really do miss it. I also have an English Twitter account, which I update waaaaaaay more (i.e. non-stop) than my Dutch one.

So what else has been up in the world of Suzy, you ask? Well, I got engaged! No one was surprised though, considering my boyfriend fiancé and I have been together for 7 years and have been living together since 2007. Aaand we travelled to Berlin to visit our family there because I became an aunt again! And I’m about to become an aunt yet again; it’s like baby boom central over here

But there were also some low points, sadly. We’re travelling to the UK in a couple of days because my fiancé’s dad underwent surgery And my mum had to undergo eye surgery again after the artificial lens in her only functioning eye detached itself. The recovery afterwards didn’t go smoothly either, due to one of the stitches not dissolving and causing an infection. You can imagine the amount of stress this all caused…

And my own health has been the usual roller coaster I got the flu in November and my whole body went nuts-o. I’m still not fully recovered from it. But you know me, I’m like teflon Or I like to think I’m like teflon anyway *knocks on wood*

Even though I’m obsessed with Korean (pop) culture, I fell in love with Japanese Gyaru style after attending that kickass lecture. So I just HAD to film a makeup tutorial! It was actually quite difficult to apply Gyaru makeup, considering I have caucasian features and my eyeshape is the complete opposite of an Asian eyeshape (I have deepset eyes). But I really hope you’ll like the video!

Remember that I said I had a feeling the E.L.F. Flawless Finish foundation would be the perfect colour for my BFF Jenni? Well, I was right! Yippee! Jenni’s currently staying at my place for a week, so she has been testing the foundation out and would like to share her thoughts on it

Jenni’s 2 Cents: Being almost-but-not-quite as pale as Suzy, she asked me if I could be her guinea pig for the E.L.F. Flawless Finish Foundation in the colour Porcelain #83111.

Now I’m not usually a huge fan of foundation as I too struggle with finding the right shade, so I’ve been loyal to my MAC Mineralize Satinfinish Foundation for a while as it does the job without me having to face the oompa-loompas on the make-up counters whilst searching for the perfect match.

(It’s funny how MAC classifies us both as NC15, even though Jenni has a darker complexion than me and pinkier undertones…)

The foundation bottle itself looks simple, but stylish…and let’s admit it, we women like it when things look pretty on our makeup table When you hold the bottle in your hands, it feels like you’re holding a much more expensive foundation, so that kind of pseudo luxury is rather nice

And the foundation comes with a hygienic pump! Halleluja! No messing around with the bottle & accidentally pouring half of it all over yourself. Good job, E.L.F.! You scored some major bonus points there

(Jenni has pretty good skin, aside from some redness, mild blemishes and the odd dry patch on her cheeks. She has slightly larger pores on her t-zone, but her skin isn’t overly oily or anything. The E.L.F. foundation provides medium coverage without looking cakey.)

Ingredients wise, this foundation does have some ingredients which can cause trouble, if you’re sensitive to them. Such as silicones and mineral oil. But at the same time, if you have a drier skintype, those ingredients could be the key to making your skin look hydrated, smooth and glowy.

I was really impressed with this foundation, as it blended into my skin nicely and didn’t leave me feeling like I was coated in a thick layer of paste. The colour matched (hurrah!) and it provided light coverage of my blemishes without giving me that unnatural one-tone look. I would say that although it claims to be semi-matte, after setting it left more of a ‘glowy’ finish, and would not be suitable for oilier skin types.

I have a love/hate relationship with the SPF in the foundation though, because while I think SPF is great, it doesn’t photograph very well and we noticed my face looked paler than my neck and upper chest in pictures where a flash was used.

But the thing that surprised me the most was the price! I couldn’t believe it when Suzy told me it costs only €6,80! So I was quite impressed with the quality and finish, considering it’s a quarter of the price of my usual MAC foundation

Just my friends & I talking about random stuff! We go from topics like JYJ to makeup hauling to a limp balloon to bits in orange juice I’m so happy that Haaky & Jenni are here! I’ve missed them loads

I had straight bangs with long hair up until age 12/13. Then, I had the brilliant idea of experimenting and I cut my hair short. Big, big…HUGE mistake. And after that I never had the courage to change my hairstyle again, out of fear of a repeat of the short bob drama. Anyway, I’ve gone on Taaz.com to try out straight bangs again, but I honestly don’t know if I should just go for it or not.

Uhm, ignore the hideous brows I used a very old makeupless picture because my pc is away for repair, so this was all I had on my laptop. And I’m a late bloomer, I didn’t discover the joys of tweezers and brow pencils/powders until age 25 Contact lenses only took me 27 years to discover

My mum advised me against it. She said that I already look younger and come across as younger than I really am and bangs would only make me look younger. But I don’t know, I just want a chaaaaange Plus, I alternate between contact lenses and glasses, so I don’t know if glasses with bangs are a no no in the hairstyling world

What do you guys think? YAY or NAY?

As promised, an NOTD of my new E.L.F. Nail Polish in the colour 1507 “Gum Pink”…or should I say 1508 “Fluorescent Pink”? You see, I discovered a little mislabelling/mispackaging problem (I guess?). If you look on the E.L.F. website, “Gum Pink” is a light bubblegum pink. And clearly, the colour I have isn’t that

So I suspect that there was a bit of a mix-up and 1508 “Fluorescent Pink” somehow got stuck into the “Gum Pink” packaging. After a bit of Googling I realised I’m not the only person who figured this out. In any case, the nail polish is beautiful and I certainly don’t mind that it isn’t the real “Gum Pink” that I was expecting

I love how deep and bright this pink nail polish is and the nice shine it has to it And I’m in shock how good it is, considering it only costs €1! It’s Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP free and infused with vitamin E to combat weak nails. The 1st coat provided great coverage, but I still applied a thin 2nd coat, just in case.

The only negative thing I have to say about this nail polish is that it’s not as chip resistant as it claims to be. As a housewife, my hands and nails always have to put up with a lot. And the E.L.F. nail polish doesn’t cope with that as well as an OPI or Zoya nail polish does. But then again, those two brands are also a bazillion times more expensive, so that’s negligable really

All in all a lovely and very budget friendly nail polish, I really am very pleased with it!

Some things seem meant to be Last week I was thinking to myself that I really needed to throw away my Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow/Liner in “Skinny Jeans” (the ultimate smoky, pewter-green shade). I’ve had it for 2 years and it’s a cream product, so…*shudders at the thought of bacteria*  A day later I was in my local Kruidvat drugstore and decided to have another look at the Catrice Made To Stay Longlasting Eyeshadows. And what did I find? A dupe for Benefit “Skinny Jeans”! It’s Catrice’s “020 Romans Gone Bad”

You even get a little bit more product Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows contain 0.16oz (+/- 4.5 grams), whereas Catrice Made To Stay Longlasting Eyeshadows contain 0.17oz (5 grams) of product. The containers are very similar, they’re both little jars with a screw top.

Please excuse the state of Benefit’s “Skinny Jeans”, it has been well loved the past 2 years

The colours are almost identical, in my opinion. Same goes for the pigmentation and consistency. If I had to be nitpicky, I would say that the Benefit one provides slightly smoother and more even application, but it’s $19…versus the €3,49 that Catrice charges. I mean, come on

Catrice’s “020 Romans Gone Bad” is a tiny bit darker and the shimmers are a little bit grittier, but again, I find the difference between these two almost nil
